Sandalwood drug racket: Crime Branch summons Kannada actors Diganth and Aindrita Ray

The Central Crime Branch of Bengaluru has issued notice to popular actors Diganth Manchale and Aindrita Ray in connection with the ongoing drug menace in Kannada film industry. They have been summoned to appear before CCB by 11 am tomorrow (September 16). Earlier this month, two actors from Sandalwood Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjanaa Galrani were arrested by the police officials while investigating the drug racket case.

Now, the news about CCB issuing notice to two other popular Kannada actors has sent shockwaves across the industry. Diganth Manchale and Aindrita Ray got married in 2018 and is one of the most popular couples in Sandalwood. Diganth, 36, has been in the industry for more than 15 years. Aindrita, 30, has a decent fan base and have acted in more than 30 films.

It is worth mentioning that earlier today Karnataka police conducted searches at Aditya Alva’s house. Aditya is the son of late Karnataka minister Jeevaraj Alva. Aditya is also the brother-in-law of Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi.

Aditya Alva is named one of the 12 accused in the Sandalwood drug scandal. Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) said, “Search warrant was taken and search being conducted at Aditya Alva house near Hebbal called ‘House of Lives’.”

On September 14, the First AMCC Court, sent Ragini Dwivedi to 14-day judicial custody along with four other accused who were arrested in connection with the ongoing drug racket case.Ragini, who was arrested on September 4, has been in CCB custody for almost 12 days now. She was shifted to central prison yesterday.

The court also remanded Sanjjanaa Galrani, Viren Khanna and another person BK Ravishankar, to two days police custody.

It all started, when the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested several drug peddlers in the city on August 21. The peddlers were connected to businessmen, actors and musicians from the Kannada film industry.
