  • Arjun Tendulkar has represented Indian at Under-19 level

Cricket is a religion in India and Sachin Tendulkar was long ago declared as its God. It’s been 7 years since the genius batsman retired from international cricket but news regarding him and his family stills spreads like a wild fire.

Arjun Tendulkar, the talented son of the former Indian captain, makes news every time he performs well on the field. The 20-year-old made his Under-19 debut for India against Sri Lanka in 2018. He is still trying hard to break into the Mumbai Ranji team or the senior Indian team. The left-arm pacer has been seen in the Mumbai Indians net sessions in the past. Being the son of a legendary cricketer sure has its own perks.

But when a picture of him chilling with Mumbai Indians players including Trent Boult and James Pattinson in a swimming pool went viral, fans couldn’t stop from speculating about the reason of his presence in UAE ahead of the IPL 2020. Some even questioned if he was going to play for MI. But that’s not the case.

The all-rounder has travelled with the MI contingent to the UAE as a bet bowler. Notably, IPL franchises are are travelling with their own set of net bowlers because of the strict coronavirus protocols and dearth of quality net bowlers in UAE.

Arjun Tendulkar can however, get lucky if a player gets injured or his tested positive curing the 53-day-long tournament. Given the SOPs and rules, BCCI can allow the franchises to pick a replacement in these cases.

4-time champions Mumbai Indians will be playing in season opener against 3-time champions CSK on September 19 in Abu Dhabi.
